Topic: Error when growing file system to fill partition
I'm not sure if what I was trying to do was even possible but I was trying to use the Gparted on a Linux Mint 12 live CD to shrink a Windows XP partition before I went ahead with the Linux Mint install. When I started the resize operation, I got an error and when I checked the details I see that the last operation being performed was that Gparted was attempting to grow the file system to fill the partition. I'm really not sure why this would be happening in the first place since all I was trying to do was shrink the size of the XP partition and it was to my understanding that there shouldn't be any need for it to fill the whole partition.
Can anyone tell me if this is happening because I am using the Gparted on the Linux Mint Live CD or if I am doing something wrong?
I tried doing it two ways...
1. Shrink the XP partition and leave the rest as unallocated space to be formatted during the Mint install
2. Shrink the XP partition and format the remaining unallocated space into an ext4 formatted space for Mint and 3 GB for swap
Thanks in advance!
