I have tried the latest beta CD and still experience the below error. I am also running a Core 2 Duo processor. On another system identical to this I built a few months ago, I could never get ANY Linux Live CD to boot! Do we think there might be a problem with compatibility with the Core 2 processor?
Using an Intel DP965LT mobo, 1gb memory, nVidia 7100GS, WD SATA drive, Samsung DVD burner.
Last system I built, I wound up hooking the drive up to my AMD X2 4200+ system in order to boot to Gparted.
"No Gparted Live CD found!!!" and this is followed by "Kernel Panic-not syncing: attempted to kill init."

Can you disable Core 2 in bios ?
If you can give it a try. I remember someone didi this and succeed booting of livecd ....
This feature may be not supported yet .... ?

okay i will have a look at kernel config : maybe there is no support for core 2 into :-/

BTW i can confirm multiprocessor wasnt set in the kernel. It makes problem when running on mono cpu, running slower... but dunno how much slower ...
Asap i upload the new beta for you. I will post here too.

Well, that still didn't work. The message on these newer images is a little different, but still boils down to "Could not find CD".
Don't sweat it on my account, I went ahead and stuck the drive in my machine and repartitioned it there.
My problem may be something stupid like a weird jumper setting on the CD drive. When I get a chance, i will try to check that and let you know if I resolve the issue.

Same issue as everyone else - "LiveCD not found"
Hardware:
Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 (intel 965 chipset)
Core 2 Duo E6600
2GB RAM
SATA HDD
The DVD drive I'm using is PATA, connected to the only PATA port on the board, which is controlled by the J-Micron controller. I have heard of other people having issues with other applications at boot time, because the J-Micron isn't "true PATA" or something. Saying that, I've had no problem installing Ubuntu or Mac OS X (x86) on my PC - even when people with similar setups have. I'm a bit hesitant to try a beta build - I'd be much happier with something completely stable

I had this same error with a new HP machine. I can give you the details of the machine if you would like but both the CD and HD were SATA drives.
My old 0.2.4 disk worked but recognized the drives as HDA (IDE?)
The current Live CD 3.3.0 gave me the error in question despite various boot option choices
The 0.9.1 beta however worked just fine.
In the beta I was given the option of what GUI to load (Full versus Mini). Is this just a beta thing or do need to do something special?

The new 0.3.3-5 LiveCD works perfectly - thanks a lot for fixing it up!
