Topic: XP Doesn't Recognise Partition

I had a dual boot XP/Feisty Fawn HDD.
I used Super Grub to restore the MBR.
Then used gparted live to reformat, delete ext3 partition.
I then expanded the hda1 partition to take up all available space. It was
increasedfrom 22.91GiB to 36.65GiB but with an error message.
On gparted it says I have 36.65GiB on hda1.
On My Computer it says I still have 24.6017GiB.
I have read on your forum about disk managers and updating partition tables,
but I don't understand.
Is Disk Manager external software or a Windows program?
How do you alter the partition table?
I can't use my OS cd as I have upgraded over the net since installation.
Finally could you please advise me what to do and how to do it?
        thankyou

Hm, if you have formatted your ext3 partition, how do you want GRUB still boot off ??? :-/

Re: XP Doesn't Recognise Partition

I don't want to boot off grub.I formatted in NTFS to remove Ubuntu and fixed the XP MBR.
I simply want XP to retake over the entire HDD.
       thankyou

Re: XP Doesn't Recognise Partition

Is your problem as in the following link?
http://gparted-forum.surf4.info/viewtop … 3800#p3800

Disk Management is part of the Management console in win xp.
You go there by right clicking on the icon "my computer" on the win desktop and choosing "Manage" or "Management" , then Disk management in the left tab.

*** It is highly recommended to backup any important files before doing resize/move operations. ***

Re: XP Doesn't Recognise Partition

I can't figure out how to incorporate screen images into this reply.
In Disk Manager it shows the gparted C drive partition as 36.65GB.
When I right click on it and select Properties it shows the drive as being 22.9GB.
I tried using "diskpart"and"extend"to increase the recognised volume of the partition, but it doesn't work.
By the way I have Feisty Fawn on another computer. This one is my jukebox computer with a snazzy aftermarket Windows based program. That's why I want all the HDD memory back.
   thankyou

Re: XP Doesn't Recognise Partition

Sorry,I should have said Yes about the other guy's problem with different volumes and capacities.
Mine is the same, only when I tried to downsize the partition volume I got another error message and now it wont budge from 36.65GB.
It's wierd that the figures and the graph on the same page can be different.
     thankyou
