Could you first try to read the doc about that ?

thx
Well... I have!
How do you create a FAT16 partition from XP?! Can you? and the you should execute syslinux, which is not an standard win32 command.
/Boo
I believe you can run syslinux under sygwin. For creating a fat16 partition on your USB pen drive it should be supported by the manufacturer or look up the utility on HP's site.
baboo isn't the only one that has this problem. The documentation for the liveusb is really terrible if you are a noob like myself. My favorite step is
"(4) UMOUNT the usb stick and execute this command:
syslinux -s /dev/sda1"
Because I have absolutley no idea what that means. I'm sure that I'll be able to stumble my way through steps 1 - 3, but step for is beyond me.

Thx to tell it : asap i will make changes to make it cool even for newbies :-p ...
Please be kind enough to tell if something else makes problem !
Larry, I believe I've sorted this out for you: http://gparted-forum.surf4.info/viewtopic.php?id=202 , just cut and paste :-)))
In change... could you please help me in the additional doubt I have and that I mention in my topic ? Also (am I demanding too much for very little I did?) I aim to have a "swiss knife" in Linux; is there a simple way to add to LiveUsb additional Linux programs ?
Jokes apart I would be grateful if you could point me to the right documentation
If you use XP, enter this code in the commandprompt: diskmgmt.msc
I followed these directions to a T, and my computer is still refusing to recognize the usb drive as a bootable device, even though the bios fully supports usb booting, it even has a menu for selecting which device to boot from, USB or IDE CD-ROM, IDE or SATA drive, and USB Drive. I've done the whole syslinux -s G: deal, and the files are intact on the usb stick, in FAT16 format. What is going wrong?
I personaly had some problem with new keys which are formated using 2048 bs and not 512 !
Maybe this is your trip
