Hi there

I have the following setup
GParted Live 0.3.1

Intel P4-D Dual Core 2,6 GHz PC800 1MB Model 805
ASRock 775DUAL-VSTA Motherboard
PCI-e 256MB ATI RADEON X1300 Pro TV-out & DVI
300GB Samsung SATA-2 HD 16MB cache
1024MB 533MHz DDR RAM
LG GSA-H10 16x Multi DL DVD-RW
Sound card 7.1 on Board - 8 Channel
10/100 Network card - DSL Ready
400W quiet Power Supply
6x USB 2.0 Ankermann DesignTower

For some reason, the hard drive isn't being detected.

I tried selecting all RAID/SATA modules, but still nothing.

Any ideas?

Please, can you see something when typing

# cat /proc/partitions

and what is the output of

# fdisk -ul

Hi there

Thanks for your help.

The output from # cat /proc/partitions is:

major minor #blocks name
7          0        22808   loop0

There is no output from # fdisk -ul

The original partitions (3) were formed in the Windows Professional XP setup.  It could only see 128Gb out of a 300Gb hard drive, hence the need to use GParted Live.

Well, i think the problem comes from kernel or drivers that arent able to detect your hardware.
Unfortunatly our livecd is pending on new maintainer, so if you have any linux distro installed, consider running gparted from it to solve your problem. If you dont, wait a bit ...

Are you saying XP could only see 128 gb of the drive or could not create partition larger than 128 gb? I have a machine which is more than 3 years old with a 160 gb drive which can be accessed in entirety by XP.

You could try BootITNG which supports drives & partitions upto 2 TB provided your bios supports it.
