Topic: GParted not working

So I tried to use GParted on my VMware linux server.  I loaded up the iso and I found my partition...I expanded the partition and GParted did its thing and expanded my partition from 1.05 gigs to 10gigs.  Gparted told me that everything was successful so I set my vmware to boot from my original .vmdk and now when it boots it just says "GRUB" and nothing else and I can't put in any commands or do anything.  What happened?  Why didn't it work?  I'm I doing something wrong?

I tried a bootable version of partition magic and it worked fine.
