Topic: Problems.

Well, when I boot from CD, I have no problem getting to the program, haha, but I have a yellow triangle next to my HD telling me... "run chkdsklf to fix errors. lf attributes IMPORTANT! reboot computer TWICE!"

I can run chkdsk, but what the heck is that chkdsklf? aperently chkdsk isn't enough, where do I fix this?

Re: Problems.

You probably closed your computer in a bad way, and that is the reason why GParted don't want to perform any operation on your partition. I think.

Re: Problems.

Pandouk, don't wanna hurt you, but are you sure this is *the* message it returns ?
BTW you didn't mention any file system : must be ntfs i guess.
GParted use ntfsprogs to move/clone/resize/copy ntfs.

Think you got it there : http://forum.linux-ntfs.org/

Larry, I'd love to give the exact message, but how do I get a screenshot of whats written, I can barely read the writting bcz of the resolution. although I think I pretty much got what's written, its prob not word for word.. and yes, its NFTS

Re: Problems.

I have the same error. Something about "run chkdsklf to fix errors. lf attributes IMPORTANT! reboot computer TWICE!"

Is it chkdsk if ?

Re: Problems.

I had the same problem and I guess that the right command to execute is:

chkdsk /f

/f parameter should fix all errors on the NTFS disk (see  the documentation: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/docu … x?mfr=true  )

To make it clear: boot Windows, execute the command (answer YES to run chkdsk during the next reboot), reboot Windows and wait untill chkdsk finishes. I don't know why it is necessary to boot twice, but I did so.

Hope this helps.

Re: Problems.

This chkdsk /f is automatically executed by the windows system after resizing, because it detects changes in the file system.
Just after resizing ntfs, you close Gparted by clicking the "X" button, then you shut down the O.S. by the button on screen (choosing to reboot).
After rebooting in windows, chkdsk /f is automatically executed, and next the computer reboots, I think automatically too (in windows). You may see a message about some new device. You wait a few minutes (3-4), and you reboot in windows when there is no longer disk activity.

Perhaps this last reboot into windows isn't needed, but I prefer to be to the safe side wink .
