Topic: Shrink Vista comes up with "Missing Operating Systems"
I was following the directions on
http://gparted-forum.surf4.info/viewtopic.php?id=431
to resize ( shrink ) my Vista partiion and afterwards it is not working.
I was using the latest "gparted-clonezilla-2.2.iso" to clone and then using ntfsresize in gparted to resize.
Orig Drive info is 120GB Drive with a Dell partition and the rest is Vista. I was moving it from the 120GB drive to a 100G drive. OS is Vista Ultimate
So about 111GB was Vista. I ran ntfsresize and shrink it down to about 80GB. Afterwards, I followed the steps to fix the partition info via fdisk. Made sure that parition #, size shrinked is greater than 80G and withiun boundarys of the physcial disk layout, and type got changed back to NTFS (7) and bootable flag is set before saying. Yet, after rebooting it, I'm getting "Missing Operating System" Plus if I boot again into gparted, the gparted GUI shows the partition as "unknown"
Should I use the Vista boot CD and try the recovery process?
If you need additional info please let me know, such as fdisk output and things.
Any help or suggestions will be helpful.
Thanks,
