Topic: Dell PowerEdge 2850 / Perc4e/Di RAID - Live CD Lockup

I'm trying to resize a partition on a Dell PowerEdge 2850 with the Perc4e/Di RAID controller.

Attempting to boot with the LiveCD, it hangs the system after displaying:

"Failed initialization of WD-7000 SCSI card!"

Anyone have luck using it on one of these systems and know a trick to boot it? smile

Thanks,

First, you can try the various boot options.
Second, you can try one of the previous versions, like 0.3.4-6 or 0.3.4-7.

Tried all the obvious boot options, including the manual video card thing.

I'll try a previous version.

It doesn't seem to be a video problem.

Many distributions (e.g. Ubuntu) have GParted installed on their live-CDs, so you could also try one of those to see if they support that RAID controller.

Yes: I saw that the new Ubuntu (7.10) contains an updated Gparted version, 0.3.3 instead of the old 0.2.5 in previous releases. So, you could try the Ubuntu live cd 7.10 too.
