Re: cant grow the size of my NTFS partition on XP

err, im having the same problem.

i have 2 partitions, 1 100 megs, 1 7 megs, and 13 unallocated.

i can create a new one with the 13, or grow the 7 (D:) to 20... but i cant grow C: (100) to 113...

i originally partitioned the space off C, now i cant put it back!?

The best is usually to have a look at docs :-p

as you can see, the partition has a max size of 90g

but you can see theres an unallocated like 20g

i wanna stick that 20g back on the 90 for 110g..

I'm having very similar problems to this (and yes I did read all the documentation). In my case for some reason the 'Free space preceeding' box is grayed out and i can't move the last partition. Thus, the unallocated space stays at the end and is useless since i need it on the first partition. any idea what's wrong?

Thx

Re: cant grow the size of my NTFS partition on XP

Nothing wrong:
In the  case of the figure, we can
- move the hda5 to the end of the extended partition hda2
- resize the extended partition (shrink) to leave unallocated space between hda1 and hda2
- expand hda1.

I would do each step itself, rebooting in windows after each resizing.
