Topic: Is-it possible to format an usb key with U3-smart with Gparted

Hello, Is-it possible to format an usb key with U3-smart with Gparted? I know that U3smart have a tols to delate the software but it work only on windows.

I think you can format it, but it seems that there is an evil software installed in windows that recreates the evil structure on the usb key if it is connected.
I think you have not just to remove the bad thing from the key, but remove the software from your windows installation.

I don't know many things about U3, but if this is a firmware issue, then it can't be done by simply formatting the memory space. And then, the right firmware is needed, as well as the software toflash it in the device. I think it would be possible to do it from Linux, because it's powerful at least as windows (even more). You could rather search for a support forum about flash technology (unless other members in this forum have already solve this issue). smile
