Topic: Disk Read Error after resizing NTFS

I extended my NTFS partition from 128Gb to the max 320Gb.
On reboot, my bios says:

A disk read errro occured
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart

Which leads to an endless loop.

GParted shows the disk as working. Checks fine. Claims it is a NTFS partition.

System:
Core2Duo
320 Gb SATA
80 Gb ATA

I tried shrinking the partition back to 127Gb but still doesn't help.

Re: Disk Read Error after resizing NTFS

Partially Solved.

Rebooted to 80-Gb winXP install.
Ran chkdsk on 320 gb disk (with 127gb partition)

Rebooted to 320 Gb disk....

So it works again, but I'm back to where I started !

Re: Disk Read Error after resizing NTFS

Please, follow in detail the documentation on resizing disks and especially NTFS disks.
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/documentation.php

After resizing you must reboot the system in windows for checking and adjusting, at least 3 times.
Please, have the installation cd or dvd nearby, as it could be needed, especially with vista.

*** It is highly recommended to backup any important files before doing resize/move operations. ***

Re: Disk Read Error after resizing NTFS

I appreciate the suggestions, but the system would not boot, as the disk was not found...
chkdsk would not run if winxp does not run.

Only years of experience saved me from a system rebuild (yet again).
