Topic: gParted reads volumes, but gives no resizing options

Hi all, please forgive noob question - have had a hunt around and couldn't find a similar problem.

I am running gParted on Linux Mint (based on Ubuntu Edgy) and it is showing both the hdd that Linux is on, and the NTFS external hdd (Maxtor 400gb) that I would like to add fat 32 partitions to in order to swap the drive between Win, OSX and Linux boxes.

Sadly all the options on both drives are greyed out - any idea why this may be?

Many thanks in advance!

Re: gParted reads volumes, but gives no resizing options

Perhaps all partitions are locked. Are they any small locks by the partitions in the list? Can you give us a screenshot?

You can't do partition operations on your working system. You can use the liveCD instead, that boot from itself and doesn't lock disk partitions.
Latest version is 0.3.4-8.

*** It is highly recommended to backup any important files before doing resize/move operations. ***
