gparted keeps auto-mounting on refresh devices

I just installed Ubuntu 7.04 and gparted somehow got a nasty habit (this worked fine in ubuntu 6.10!)
If I want to change a partition/disk/whatever I need to unmount it - logically! But if I use gparted to unmount the device it does a "refresh devices" - and this would be fine - IF it didn't automatically mount any unmounted partition that it finds!!!

So how do I get gparted to NOT mount any and all devices that it finds?

I'll be grateful for all the help you can give me!
