Re: Live Cd dies on video

Hello,
0.3.4-3 also does not work on a Nvidia 5200. Tried the first and second boot menu entry, who both have the reported behaviour.

Re: Live Cd dies on video

What does "not work" means ?
You have no video ?
If then, try to run Forcevideo script (just type # Forcevideo
and hit Enter
Then answer the question, and try vesa driver or nv.
Set reoslution to 1024x768

Tell me how this works, please ?

Re: Live Cd dies on video

Hello,

i have the same Problem with a GeForce4 Ti 4200, it don't run with the vesa driver.

After killing the Xserver and applying the settings with Forcevideo to "nv" it works.

Re: Live Cd dies on video

Which is weird is that it doesn't autodetect your video !
Here I have GForce :  nVidia Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 5500] (output of lspci)
and it uses "nv" with autodetection.

If you use linux OS, could you run "lspci" and see details about your video ? May I could point out the problem...

Re: Live Cd dies on video

Hi Larry, me again, still trying.

When I try "# Forcevideo" at the bash; I get no prompts at all, just back to the bash.

Any comments ?

Re: Live Cd dies on video

Hello,
wanted to explain what i meant with "didn't work with a Nvidia 5200" (gparted 0.3.4-svn): After Booting, the console output disappears, and the monitor switched into standby. And this happens with the first three boot menue entries.
Now, before using Forcevideo, today I found I had to press Ctrl-Alt-Backspace. Then the colourful console appears again. Forecvideo worked with nv driver at 1024x768.
(Edit: maybe I could post some lspci output)

thx for reporting !
Could you be  more expressive please ?
BTW do post the output of lspci, and also the file xorg.conf *BEFORE* you force video : It seems there is an issue with nvidia : so I could add an entry to force nv.
thx !

Hello,
here's the requested info on my problem with gparted. This is what lspci says about the graphics card:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 5200] (rev a1)

And here's the full xorg.conf before using Forcevideo.

Re: Live Cd dies on video

Hello,

Using 0.3.4-7 with Intel Graphics Controller 82865G.
Its not being recognised automatically and when I tried Forcevideo with the vesa option it died [fatal error], any ideas?

Re: Live Cd dies on video

Did you try the "VESA driver" option in the initial menu?

Anyway, it seems that this integrated graphics controller is supported by Intel for Linux:

This issue has been fixed in last release (from yesterday). I tested it on my Personal Computer, with Intel Graphics Controller 82865G.
so it should work...
