Topic: disklabeltype

hello!
my question is:
what is a disklabel?
what disklabeltype is the best one and which disklabeltype should i select: msdos, amiga, bsd, dvh, gpt, mac, pc98, sun, loop?
my os is linux (distri: opensuse) ((primary)partition: 2gb swap; 20gb root; 210gb home) do i have to use the gparet standard msdos?
