Topic: I need some help

hi I am new in this forum and learning Ubuntu.  I tried to resize my Ubuntu partition with GParted and got the following message (see below) when I was trying to download it.  Is this a common message?  I am still using Windows XP because I don't have access to the internet and have little partition space in Ubuntu. I want to have full Ubuntu but as a beginner, I am afraid to mess up things.  I defragmented using Windows and would like to enlarge Ubuntu's partition space.  The summary was:
File System:  NTFS
Capacity:  32.86GB
Free Space:  8.26GB
% Free Space:  25%

OK, message was:

Re: I need some help

Hi Yosef
It is absolutely right that windows is not able to recognize any kind of linux file system by itsself !
You need to install explore2fs on Win : http://www.chrysocome.net/explore2fs

To use GParted, the best way is to download the iso file, burn it and follow the docs i made : they are a bit outofdate, but....
ISO is here : http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile … _id=173828
(clic the gparted-livecd-0.3.4-7.iso file)
burn the file AS AN ISO !!!! (see the doc of your bruner soft)
Follow the docs : http://gparted.sourceforge.net/documentation.php

enjoy wink

Re: I need some help

This is usually called "image burning" in the burning program menus.
*Not* just copy it in a data cd !

*** It is highly recommended to backup any important files before doing resize/move operations. ***
