Topic: Problems with GParted installing Linux

Hi,

I'm completely new and strange to the Linux world. A friend told me about Famelix, a version with windows-like environment. So I downloaded it and started to install it in a machine that already has Windows XP in a 80GB SATA Hard Drive. At some point of the instalation, acording to the instructions, I can either use GParted or cFdisk to make a partition. The program suggests GParted, because it is more user-friendly. But when I choose GParted, it begins searching for my drive and it says:

Warning: Unable to open /UNIONFS/dev/hdb read-write (Sistema de arquivos somente para leitura). /UNIONFS/dev/hdb has been opened read-only.
Error: Unable to open /UNIONFS/dev/hdb - unrecognised disk label.

So, my question is:
Is there any limitation on using SATA drives with Linux?
If not, why am I getting this error?

Thanks in advance,
