Topic: resize partitions after migration to bigger drive

I have upgraded the HDD drive of a (Lenovo) laptop to a (bigger) SSD drive.

I saved the drive to an image (USB drive) and after exchanging the internal drive restored the image to the new (bigger) SSD drive.

To use the new available space, I wanted to resize both partitions but I can't. How can I make use of the bigger drive? I wanted to resize both ntfs partitions "Windows7_OS" and "Daten". Any advice?

PS: I am using Windows 10 on the device.

Thanks

Re: resize partitions after migration to bigger drive

From the picture, I see that there is an "extended" partition /dev/sda4 that contains the /dev/sda5  DATEN partition (logical partition). DATEN occupies the entire extended diskspace. You have to initially expand /dev/sda4 and then move/grow the logical partition within that space.

*** It is highly recommended to backup any important files before doing resize/move operations. ***

Thanks for your reply. I deleted sda3, sda4, sda5 then resized sda2 and created a new partition to restore the data of sda5 from a backup.
