Topic: merging free space with an ubunto partition

Hello!

I am trying to merge two partitions but cant figure out how to do that.
I installed Ubuntu a few days ago and gave it 5GB.  Now I am running out of space and want to take 5 more from my windows partition and give it to linux.
If I create 5GB of unallocated space from the win partition, is it then possible to merge the free space with the HDA-2 ubuntu main partition???

Thanks alot!

Re: merging free space with an ubunto partition

If the unallocated space is located just before the ubuntu partition, you can move the begin of that ubuntu partition to the right and so move+resize it. I suppose that you have main principal only. But you can't resize it if you run ubuntu from it in the same time. It's better to use the live cd instead.

If it is a logical disk within an extended partition, then I don't know, because I never had to work with extended partitions till now!

*** It is highly recommended to backup any important files before doing resize/move operations. ***
