Topic: Bitlocker Backup/Restore SSD

Hi folks, I would like to have a full Clone of a Bitlocker encrypted 512GB SSD Win10.

Can I just make a image with dd / gzip and the image is as encrypted as the SSD and play it back in case same way?

Are there better options or common pitfalls?

Just in case System won't boot up at all one day, happened once for me start of this year.

Re: Bitlocker Backup/Restore SSD

Asking about a Windows disk encryption feature in a Linux partitioning tool support forum, you aren't going to get the most knowledgeable answers.

Doing a whole disk backup while the disk is not otherwise in use and restoring it later should work.  However I've never tried it on a Windows disk with Bitlocker.

Re: Bitlocker Backup/Restore SSD

I think gparted users and developers have world best knowledge about partition imaging / backup and some likely Windows experience too.

If I ask in a Windows forum I likely find users using some Software for Backup not knowing details.

I mean gparted supports ntfs, for what when not also using Windows.
