NTFS error

Using the gparted-live-1.2.0-1-i686 to try to repair my harddrive.
If I choose X or forcevideo, it defaults to some resolution incompatible with my monitor so I only see "No Signal" message.

Alternatively I tried loading in video safemode, but then I find I cannot mount the HD
