Topic: [SOLVED] install-mbr

First off all: a very good and handy LiveCD you produced !

I would suggest to add the utility install-mbr (debian package: Package: mbr (1.1.9-2)) to the LiveCD.
A few days ago i was cleaning up my hard disk for installing a new linux (PCLinuxOS) next to Windows XP. I decided to enlarged/move the first two NTFS partitions of the existing Windws XP, and deleted the current linux partitions. All went smooth. But the GRUB did not work anymore (more or less expected by myself) and I used a Knoppix LiveCD to recover the MBR with install-mbr.  (The Windows XP install CD is very impractical for doing this)

It would be nice if all this could be done within the GParted LiveCD environmment, using the install-mbr utility.

Could you find it on GENTOO, please ?
GParted is based on gentoo ...

Got no time to find out, but i'm okay to add it

I am not very well known with the Gentoo distribution.

But on http://gentoo-wiki.com I found that to install the tool you should use the following in the portage install system:

emerge app-admin/mbr

Furthermore, i found on www.gentooportage.info this information about the package:

http://www.gentooportage.info/portage/a … n/mbr.html

So the most recent version seems to be: mbr-1.1.9.ebuild

Does this provide you with enough information ?
