Topic: Invalid Magic Number

Hello,
I get to the first screen no problem, but when I click on the first option (default) I get the error message below...

error: invalid magic number
out of range pointer  0xeef000e987f000

I searched the forum but didn't see anything related to the above.

Thx for any help, my machine is a UEFI dual boot Win 10 and Linux.

Re: Invalid Magic Number

Do other Live images (such as Ubuntu) boot on the computer?

The boot can take a very long time on some computers (several minutes) with various messages echoed to the console.

Haven't tried Ubuntu but Mint live and FoxClone boot no problem.

Without knowing more details about the computer hardware it is difficult to ascertain the cause of the issue.

You might try SystemRescueCD which usually has an up-to-date version of GParted.

Just tried SystemRescueCD and clicking on the first option (default) got an error message stating "RESCUE701' device did not show up after 30 seconds".

I'm building another PC next week and will try both on it and see if they'll work.
I'll post back here the results, thanks!
