Topic: version 3.4.5 / 3.4.6 & Intel 82815GCx not recognized

Hello,

I've tried the new version of your excellent distrib, ,but keep to have the same error on boot as explained in this post : FATAL IO error 104 when the video is involved...

I've tried a lot of things explained here in the forum, without any success.

the Vesa choice doesn't work too. I've tried every "screen resolution, no luck...

please could you help ?

Excuse-me, but did you try again "intel" at prompt ? Up to version 0.3.4-4 there was a bug : intel calls something else. NOW, intel calls i740.
If you did try this, so be kind enough to file a bug.
BTW, post in the bug or here the output of :

cat /etc/X11/xorg | grep Driver | tail -1

This should return what the system detect as video.
Try it *without* setting any video, and again after you set intel at prompt, please.

Isn't that command supposed to be

cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf | grep Driver | tail -1

At least it is on my Ubuntu Feisty.

yes I've tried I740, I810 and FB mode
I've tried every intel choices in every screen resolutions.
The driver found in xorg.conf is i810 (using your command line), my videocard is an intel 82815CGC

at the end of the log file Xorg.0.log, I can find:
""
(WW) I810(0): xf86bindGARTMemory: binding of gart memory with key 2 at offset 0x0 failed (device or ressource busy)

Fatal server error:
AddScreen/ScreenInit failed for driver 0
""

type this :
cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf | grep Driver | tail -1 (and hit ENTER)
then give me the *exact* output, please

this is with autodetection, but if I use 'I810', I receive the same message.

Currently uploading. It will take about half an hour. 8.40 am here (GTM+1).
Note keymaps is set to US by default and can't be changed ATM (gonna try to find out how all this mess works :-p)

Weird as you said! on this page, it seems that's supported...

but it still doesn't work with the new version you made. I keep receiving same error message.
I've tried different launch in different mode, vesa & i810, without success.

I'm having the same error. I am running the gparted liveCD v0.3.4-6 on an older HP e-vectra with the i810 chipset. Neither the i810 driver or the vesa driver seem to have any affect. I tried the suggestion here http://wiki.x.org/wiki/FAQErrorMessages … e77b238fdf under AddScreen/ScreenInit error and I still get the same error. Any luck figuring out why this doesn't load correctly?

I have this same problem.
My pc is a gateway 700c
with an intel 82810e Graphic Controler(chipset)
I tried to run the latest GParted.
Can anyone help??
