Customised CD

I'd like to participate in the development of LiveCD by starting off with building a customised version that includes the SMART tools and mdadm tools (plus anything else that might be useful in handling hard drives). Can't help thinking it would be useful to know if a disk is OK before I start to copy data onto it!!

I can't find any instructions on how to build the CD image however - I assume its done with a script and a bunch of customised startup tools but I can find no developer information anywhere on the gparted web site.
