In my testing of gparted-live-0.25.0-1-i686.iso, it booted correctly with Virtual Box 4.1.44-dfsg-1+deb7u1ubuntu1 configured for UEFI boot, and also with VMware Player 6.0.6 build-2700073 with BIOS boot.
The Debian Live image upon which GParted Live is built now supports only i686+, whereas earlier releases also supported i586. Is your VM configured for an i586?

How to check if the VM is using i586 or i686+?
I just download VirtualBox 5.0.14 for Windows hosts (x86/amd64) under https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads.
and my host is Windows 10 Professional (64bit)
download gparted-live-0.25.0-1-amd64.iso , and using KMS mode, it started X correctly.
thanks
Thanks pengsongwu for reporting back with how you solved the problem (using amd64 image) and editing the initial post to prefix SOLVED in front of the title.
