Topic: [SOLVED] Seeking Help Testing New GParted Data Recovery Enhancement

Would you like to help improve GParted?

We need GParted users like you to try out some new functionality.

Joan Lledó has done much work to implement a new data rescue option under the GParted "Device" menu:

     Attempt Data Rescue...

Joan's work is tracked under Bug 171215 - Support lost partition recovery and includes a patch to be applied to the version of gparted in the git repository.

For your convenience a tarball, which includes Joan's patch, can be downloaded from the following link:   gparted-0.8.0-beta1.tar.bz2

Instructions on how to build GParted from the source code are contained in the README file included in the tarball.

*** We recommend that you do not perform testing on a production system, and that you have backups of all your important data.

Your testing comments are welcome in either this forum topic, or in the bug report.

Sincerely,
Curtis Gedak
(Maintainer of GParted)
