Topic: Development Plans for the Next Release of GParted (0.22.0)

With the next release of GParted (0.22.0) we plan to work on enhancements and bug fixes.  More specifically we are focusing on unpartitioned device support.

GParted 0.22.0 is planned for release on March 23, 2015.

Candidates under consideration for GParted 0.22.0 include:

A large patch set to address Bug 741424 - Add support for GPT partition names has been committed to the git repository for inclusion in the next release of GParted.  A big thanks goes to Michael Zimmermann and Mike Fleetwood for their work on this enhancement.

Thanks to Mike Fleetwood catching a problem introduced with Bug 741424, a patch to address Bug 744108 - Creating an XFS file system never completes has been committed to the git repository.

Thanks to Mike Fleetwood, a patch set to address Bug 741430 - GParted cannot recognise LVM signature on unpartitioned drive has been committed to the git repository.  This patch set has bigger implications and is also known for providing unpartitioned whole disk device read-only support.

  The big news with this release of GParted is support for
  unpartitioned whole disk drives.  With unpartitioned drive support,
  GParted can now recognize and also format disk devices that do not
  contain a partition table.  Another new feature is support for GPT
  partition names.  This feature enables setting and viewing names on

  translation updates.
