Topic: Small enhancement request: Power button

Maybe you guys could arrange things so that pressing the system power button would cause GParted to initiate a system shutdown (?)

That would be, you know, kind-of intuitive.

Is this possible?  Would you be able to research how this might be implemented?

Re: Small enhancement request: Power button

What happens if  this button is pressed by error?
Isn't this dangerous for such critical processes as gparted performs?
Killing by error a move/resize operation can be a nightmare.

*** It is highly recommended to backup any important files before doing resize/move operations. ***

I'm not a Linux guy, so I'm probably less able to suggest how to do this than you are, but I just did a single google search and came up with this links that seem to suggest it would be entirely simple to make the power button perform a shutdown:

Re: Small enhancement request: Power button

Thank you ronbaby for the links.  From reading the information it appears that implementing such a suggestions will not exit applications cleanly when the computer shuts down.  The issues raised by class413 are a valid concern too, so I do not think we should change the power button behaviour.
