Topic: Can't eject CD (copy to RAM)

The gparted live CD won't let me eject (this is with the copy to RAM option).

Re: Can't eject CD (copy to RAM)

Which version of GParted Live are you using?

We have a new GParted-Live-0.18.0-3 image in the testing directory if you have not tried that one.

Ok, I tried -3. The eject is still locked.

Re: Can't eject CD (copy to RAM)

Would you be able to provide some details on your hardware, such as motherboard, DVD Drive, graphics card, CPU, etc?

Re: Can't eject CD (copy to RAM)

I tried on two computers (completely different), so I don't think it's a hardware specific issue.

Re: Can't eject CD (copy to RAM)

Thank you Luke for trying on more than one computer.  I just tested on one of my computers and choose the "boot to RAM" option.  After GParted was up-and-running, I tried pressing eject on my DVD drive, and it failed to open.

The details on the computer I tested with are as follows:

NAME MOTHERBOARD PROCESSOR RAM
---- -------------------- ------------------------------- ------
   CD/DVD DRIVE VIDEO CARD
   -------------------------------- ---------------------------
e790 Gigabyte GA-60XE-1 Intel Pentium III 1 GHz 512 MB
   LG CD-RW 12x8x32x ASUS GeForce 2 V7100 (32MB)

I will pass this along to our Live image maintainer.

Yes, this is a known issue, and has been reported on:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepo … bug=664053
Somehow it still exits...

Re: Can't eject CD (copy to RAM)

BTW, as I remember,  although the eject button on the CD/DVD drive fails, you still can use the "eject" command to eject the CD.

Re: Can't eject CD (copy to RAM)

Thank you Steven for including a link to the upstream bug report.

I was able to confirm that your work-around of opening a terminal window and entering the "eject" command does indeed eject the CD.

Luke, if you are able to contribute to the upstream bug report then that would help to get this issue addressed.
