Topic: GParted --

I have 2 solid state HD both have no partitions both unallocated....  all the hardware is new and tested fine.... gparted recognizes both drives correctly... the only option available is NEW Partition.... i set it up for the entire volume amount.... hit apply.... ERROR =  input/output error during write on dev/sda..... hit retry and ERROR... error fysyncing/closing /dev/sda : input/output error.... hit retry ERROR = Assertion (ped partition is active (part)0 at .../.../libparted/disk c:1435 in function ped_partition_set_system ()failed. nit the only option which is NO, then gparted loses the open window...... have to shutdown reboot....
The computer will run gparted program,
Computer will boot Ubuntu 12.04 from CD....  will not boot from windows 7 DVD... hangs up on the "starting windows" screen....
I have tried everything can some one please point me in another direction so I can set the filing system to NTFS

What version of GParted are you using?

Are you booting from a Live CD or USB image?  If so, which one?

Can you try using the latest GParted Live 0.18.0-2?
