Topic: Development Plans for the Next Release of GParted (0.19.0)

With the next release of GParted (0.19.0) we plan to work on enhancements and bug fixes.

GParted 0.19.0 is planned for release June 10, 2014.

Candidates under consideration for GParted 0.19.0 include:

Vladimir Panteleev has provided a patch.  Further testing is required.


With the 1.0.0 release of GParted we plan to work on preparing GParted to work with GNOME 3.0.
The release will become 1.0.0 if and when we drop support for the gtkmm-2.4 API.  The plan with the first few releases is to maintain compatibility with both gtkmm-2.4 and gtkmm-3.0.

Candidates under consideration for GParted 1.0.0 include:

Done? - Bug# - Description
no - Bug 652044 - uses deprecated APIs
Colin Watson has created an initial patch.  More development work and testing is required.
Curtis Gedak is not actively working on this enhancement.

Hi Curtis, how about Bug 721516 - Use e2image to move/copy ext[234] filesystems?

Also to register on this forum it wanted to know the name of the creator of gparted and said it was on the gparted site.  I can't find it there and had to look in the AUTHORS file to remember.

And GAH! it asked again just to post.

The forum suffered from spam in the past, so we had to install some "antispam measures".
You can find the name of the creator of gparted in the contact page.

Thanks Phillip for the heads up on the Bug 721516 - Use e2image to move/copy ext[234] filesystems.

That one had somehow slipped between the cracks such that I was not aware of it.  I have added it to this list for consideration for the next release.

A patch set to address Bug 721516 - Use e2image to move/copy ext[234] filesystems has been committed to the code repository.  Thanks to Phillip Susi, Curtis Gedak and Laurent de Trogoff for developing and testing this change.

A patch to address Bug 729800 - Prevent GSource double-destroy warning messages has been committed to the code repository.  Thanks goes to Geoff Hill and Phillip Susi for providing patches that fixed the problem.

A patch to address Bug 729139 - Refactor OperationDetail to address random crash behavior has been committed to the code repository.  Thanks goes to Phillip Susi for developing this patch.  Note that the crash behaviour is very difficult to reproduce.
