Topic: Allow specific GUID to be entered

GParted will allow a new GUID to be generated for a partition. It should also allow for a specific GUID to be entered for a partition.

Re: Allow specific GUID to be entered

Thank you for your interest in GParted.

Some file systems do not provide tools to set a specific UUID.  Also another way to tackle UUID mismatch issues is to edit the associated file (e.g., /etc/fstab) to ensure that the UUID matches again.

For file systems which do allow a specific UUID to be set you can allow the user to set the UUID. Having to change /etc/fstab or the Windows boot configuration is certainly possible but adding the feature suggested to GParted should be much easier.
