Could you give GParted Live's upstream, i.e. Debian live, a try?
http://live.debian.net/cdimage/release/ … so-hybrid/
Especially this one:
http://live.debian.net/cdimage/release/ … onfree.iso
If it works, then definitely the issue is on GParted live. If it fails, too, then we should report the issue to upstream, i.e. Debian project.
debian-live-7.0.0-i386-xfce-desktop+nonfree.iso
boots with no problems on this laptop.
gparted-live-0.14.1-6-i486.iso boot fine on different hardware

Hi Sebus,
Steven Shiau just created a new Live image which is available in the testing directory. Would you be able to try GParted Live 0.16.1-2?
gparted-live-0.16.1-2-i486.iso
I am booting from USB using Easy2Boot Version 1
https://sites.google.com/a/rmprepusb.co … tain/e2bv1
Hangs on Running /scripts/live-premount... usb 4-1.5: string descr
I boot debian iso in exactly same way
If I chose to boot to RAM it carries a bit more & hangs on
radeon 0000:01:00.0 fence driver on ring 3 use gpu addr 0x0000000040000c0c and cpu addr 0xffb9ac0c

If you are booting from USB, can you try using tuxboot or the manual instructions outlined on the GParted Live on USB page?
If you are booting from USB, can you try using tuxboot or the manual instructions outlined on the GParted Live on USB page?
But I really do not want Tuxboot or anything else
It defeats the purpose of using Easy2Boot
Also gparted using Easy2Boot works fine on different hardware, so it is not method that is the problem, but the software/hardware combination (differentboot method will not solve that!)
sebus
If you perform the test with tuxboot then that will tell us if the problem is in the GParted Live image, or in the way that Easy2Boot works with GParted.
As I said, the same Easy2Boot gparted iso booted on different hardware (few) boots perfectly OK.
So it is not the method but this particular hardware that gparted chokes on (AMD Radeon 7670m 1GB as well as Intel HD 4000)
So does gparted-live-0.16.1-2-i486.iso boots OK on any one of your machines?
Steven.

How many time I need to say?
It boots fine using Easy2Boot method on a number of other tested machines.
But on 3560 it hangs

@sebus,
You are seeking for help, so please be patient. Sometimes we have to make sure all the steps and situations.
People here replying you are spontaneous. There is no obligation for anyone to answer you.
People can just ignore you.
Please read this "How To Ask Questions The Smart Way":

before you ask for any help.
OK, back to your topic.
I believe this is about the kernel/hardware support issue. Maybe it's kernel regression because the Linux kernel 3.8 in gparted-live-0.16.1-2-i486 does not work for your hardware, and the 3.2 in gparted-live-0.16.1-1-i486.iso also fails.
Therefore before the next kernel updated from Debian repository, you can try different live CD (e.g. PartedMagic or systemrescue CD) to see if the kernel works for you. They all have GParted, too.
Steven.
In fact I can boot gparted-live-0.16.1-2-i486.iso on Vostro 3560 as long as it is a model that does NOT have Radeon card (but ONLY the HD 4000)
"spontaneous" ONLY because the issue is very simple (no need to make meal out of it), it is wrong driver for that card
I only report the issue, I really do not care if it gets fixed or not
sebus
OK. Thanks for your issue report.
Steven.
