Re: GParted-liveCD-0.3.4-5

Well, it's kind of hard as you guys aren't using the sourceforge project management, bug reporting and forum system as far as I can tell. What would you want and how do I get access to the docs? The information showing in sourceforge to me is minimal compared to all the other projects.

Personally, I am guessing that, for the average "Windows as main OS" user who wants to use GParted (which they will if they see how easy moving their main WinXP partition is!), the most useful thing is for me to work towards both a LiveCD AND a USBstick GParted boot which they can create and update without having a Linux installation at all. Actually it would be easy, but I have a lot of reading up to do to get the parameters sent in so that the GParted can be unattended ONCE they have entered the choices (if required). That would allow them to update only the required files and leave the rest of the installation "as is".

I know it's useful to issue an ISO to burn, but the first thing I do with it is break it out anyway so that I don't have to change the whole thing for updates or customisation. I have created a bootable CD with an El Torito standard DOS partition (inside the boot image so not readable without breaking out the ISO) and that allows a whole host of things which are all customizable without using Linux at all.

More reading for me...... big_smile

Re: GParted-liveCD-0.3.4-5

Thanks for the info. Oh no not GRUB! I don't need TWO OS loaders and XOSL is a lot more flexible lol

Not criticising - gonna study that because it will probably help me do the DOS boot version as GRUB has to send all the parameters to the boot which is what I am working on. Thanks again!

(Wondering why there is no apparent link in sourceforge downloads to that version info.)
