Topic: Black Screen while resizing NTFS

During resizing of my NTFS partition (1TB split in half) my screen went blank, the external hard-disk indicator led is still flashing, yet I have no clue what is going on.
450GB of the disk was used, I guess it is still moving files?, is there a safe amount of time that I should wait before I can turn off my pc?

My guess is that for whatever reason (screensaver?) GParted decided to change resolutions, perhaps there is a hotkey to change resolutions to the previous working settings?

Re: Black Screen while resizing NTFS

Waiting until the HD indicator went silent and the disk cold before shutting it down solved the problem for me. Well it didn't solve the problem but the resizing finished so I could safely shutdown the machine.

Which version of GParted did you use?
Were you using a Live CD/USB?
If so which one?

I used the live CD: gparted-live-0.14.1-1.iso on a macbook air late 2010 model: NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256MB.

Re: Black Screen while resizing NTFS

That is certainly the most recent release (only released on Dec. 13, 2012 :-)

To my knowledge, the screen saver is disabled, but I will start it in a virtual session to double check.  Even it if was, then moving the mouse, or pressing a key should have displayed the screen.

If it was a hotkey combination, I would have expected some sort of confirmation before changing the resolution.

Is this a new laptop, or have you had it for a long time?
