Topic: Development Plans for the Next Release of GParted (0.14.0)

With the next release of GParted (0.14.0) we plan to focus on bug fixes and some new features.

GParted 0.14.0 is planned for release on Wednesday, October 10, 2012.

Candidates under consideration for GParted 0.14.0 include:

Mike Fleetwood has created a patch set to address this problem.

yes - Bug 684115 - Reiserfs UUID reading issues on Fedora and CentOS
Mike Fleetwood has created a patch set to address this problem.

no - Bug 685740 - Refactor to use asynchronous command execution
Phillip Susi is working on this enhancement.

no - Bug 671784 - enhancement: convert partitions from one file system to another
Massimiliano Ghilardi is working on this enhancement.

Matthias Gehre is working on this enhancement.

no - Bug 673166 - NTFS partition trashed when resized to minimum size
Vladimir Panteleev has provided a patch.  Further testing is required.


With the 1.0.0 release of GParted we plan to work on preparing GParted to work with GNOME 3.0.
The release will become 1.0.0 if and when we drop support for the gtkmm-2.4 API.  The plan with the first few releases is to maintain compatibility with both gtkmm-2.4 and gtkmm-3.0.

Candidates under consideration for GParted 1.0.0 include:

Colin Watson has created an initial patch.  More development work and testing is required.
Curtis Gedak is working on this enhancement.

A 20 piece patch set to address Bug 670171 - Add LVM PV read-write support has been committed to the git repository.  A big thanks goes to Mike Fleetwood for his efforts to add this new functionality to GParted.

A patch set to address Bug 683255 - ext2: statvfs differs from dumpe2fs (x MB unallocated space within the partition) has been committed to the git repository for inclusion in the next release of GParted.  Thanks goes to Mike Fleetwood for creating a patch set to address this problem.
