Topic: GParted Live 0.12.0-2 Not Working in VirtualBox

I just downloaded gparted-live-0.12.0-2.iso and tried to use it as a CD in VirtualBox and got this error message:

Failed to open the CD/DVD image /share1/ISOs/gparted-live-0.12.0-2.iso.

Could not get the storage format of the medium '/share1/ISOs/gparted-live-0.12.0-2.iso' (VERR_NOT_SUPPORTED).

I re-downloaded it again and got the same error.
My steps:

  • Modify storage settings of a virtual machine.

  • Specify to use gparted-live-0.12.0-2.iso

I had previously downloaded GParted 0.11.0-7 and it works fine.  It actually did what I needed, so this post is more of a heads up (ie. I'm not blocked).

Can you confirm that the MD5SUM of the .iso file matches the one on the web site?

I don't see a "CHECKSUMS" file where I got the ISO:  http://sourceforge.net/projects/gparted … /0.12.0-2/, which is unlike some other gparted download directories.  But following the link from GParted's website brought me to free.nchc.org.tw/gparted-live/stable/CHECKSUMS.TXT (can't make this a link because the forum restricts the number of links to 1), the MD5 sum is different.

Incidentally, the page where I got the ISO says:

Looking for the latest version? Download gparted-live-0.11.0-10.iso (121.1 MB)

Incidental #2:  The forum automatically creates hyperlinks from what it things are URLs, and then it also restricts the number of URLs to 1.  This is frustrating.

This is a bug on Source Forge for which we have raised a ticket:
SF Ticket 23936 - "Default Download For" does not work

Unfortunately due to problems with SPAM we have had to implement measures to reduce the problem.

I tried again and this time it worked.  Odd that the first 2 downloads were incomplete/corrupt, but I'm glad it works now.
