Topic: [SOLVED] "Missing Operating System" when booting from USB stick

I used tuxboot to install GParted on a flash drive (Latest Stable release). When I was restarting my computer, I pressed F12 to enter the boot menu screen and chose the USB drive as boot medium. However, the only thing happening was "Missing Operating System" being displayed.
Any idea why?

That is odd.  Is the file system on the USB drive FAT16 or FAT32?

VFat apparently

/dev/sdb1 on /media/BLAUERSTICK type vfat (rw,nosuid,nodev,uhelper=udisks,uid=1000,gid=1000,shortname=mixed,dmask=0077,utf8=1,showexec,flush)

Re: [SOLVED] "Missing Operating System" when booting from USB stick

VFAT is a generic type used when mounting FAT16 or FAT32 file systems, so it would appear that the USB stick is at least using one of these file systems.

Would you be able to try one of the other USB install methods?

This will help to pinpoint if the problem is with tuxboot.

Doing it manually did indeed work out - No idea why tuxboot didn't work. Thanks!

Glad to hear that the manual method worked for you.

What version of tuxboot did you use?
Also, what operating system did you use to run tuxboot?

tuxboot-linux-39-x86_64, the one marked on Sourceforge as the latest version, running Ubuntu 11.04

Thanks for the extra information.  I will pass a note about this problem to the tuxboot team.
