Topic: Development Plans for the Next Release of GParted (0.11.0)

With the next release of GParted (0.11.0) we plan to focus on bug fixes and possibly some new features.

GParted 0.11.0 is planned for release on December 13, 2011.

Candidates under consideration for GParted 0.11.0 include:

yes - Bug 662537 - Ext4 unicode labels not shown correctly

yes - Launchpad Bug 614994 - NTFS displays Chinese volume label incorrectly
Fixed due to change in tool order for reading volume labels for unicode support above.

yes - Bug 625337 - FAT16/32 Label displayed as uppercase
Fixed due to change in tool order for reading volume labels for unicode support above.

yes - Bug 663207 - Add labelling of btrfs file systems
Mike Fleetwood has created a patch.

yes - Bug 663590 - Fix btrfs volume label reading
Mike Fleetwood has created a patch.

yes - Bug 663806 - Cannot copy XFS filesystem to new smaller partition anymore
Includes small patch by Stephen Kirkby to reverse umount order.

yes - Bug 663884 - Use newer btrfs multi-tool control command first

yes - Bug 663980 - Avoid redundant file system maximize actions on copy, move, and resize


With the 1.0.0 release of GParted we plan to work on preparing GParted to work with GNOME 3.0.

Candidates under consideration for GParted 1.0.0 include:

Colin Watson has created an initial patch.  More development work and testing is required.

An enhancement to address Bug 662537 - Ext4 unicode labels not shown correctly has been committed to the Gnome git repository for inclusion in the next release of GParted.

A patch from Mike Fleetwood to address Bug 663590 - Fix btrfs volume label reading has been commited to the git repository for inclusion in the next release of GParted.

An enhancement to address Bug 663806 - Cannot copy XFS filesystem to new smaller partition anymore has been committed to the Gnome git repository for inclusion in the next release of GParted.
