Topic: [Solved] Operating system not found

I have downloaded both the zip file and the iso file and attempted to boot the computer.  The only message I get is "operating system not found."    The computer does not have an operating system because the hard disk was erased and I have been unable to process a recovery disk. An operating system disk will not work because it return an error...unable to find disk letter.   The file system is shown as RAW and this program was suggested.  I have read the tips page but have not found anything that would further my effort.  am I doing something wrong or not doing something?

Thanks
Ray

If you are booting from a CD-ROM, be sure to write the ISO file as an image, not as data.

Also be sure to set your BIOS to boot from CD-ROMs and removable drives before hard drives.

See the GParted documentation page for more details.

Can you boot your computer from any other Live CD?
For example, a Windows CD-ROM, or an Ubuntu CD?

I was burning the file as a file and not as an image.  Once I downloaded an image burning program, and burned an image correctly, the disk booted the computer.

Now, I have to go back and read the instruction for using the software since most of the menu items are greyed out and can't be selected.

Thanks for the help.
