Topic: Shutdown of GParted Live killed my PC....

Let me start off by saying I have never had a problem with this PC ever. I was using GParted Live via booting it from a cd and was attempting to resize my hard drive. It kept failing even though I had done so in the past. So I gave up and through the GUI clicked EXIT then selected shutdown. It then showed the shutdown process scrolling through the terminal and the final line said Halting system now or something to that effect. I immediately tried to power on my PC again but now my PC won't even POST! It is completely dead no power to it at all. I reseated the battery, held down on the power button for a minute you name it but my laptop is completely dead now. How did this happen I can not understand what would have caused this. I don't see anyway of fixing this but looking for some help here.

It is highly unusual that the computer will not even enter POST.  Especially since all computers, even those without hard drives, should reach the Power On Self Test stage.

Perhaps you might try removing all power from the system (disconnect the battery) for a few minutes.  Then reconnect power and try again.

If this does not work, then there would appear to be a hardware problem that is preventing the computer from entering POST.

No POST at all, could be some motherboard or BIOS problem (GParted doesn't write to the BIOS flash memory) or power failure.

Every motherboard usually needs some minimum parts to proceed to POST: usually, installed RAM and graphics adapter. A keyboard is needed too, but you can often set the BIOS to ignore missing keyboard. If the graphics card isn't connected properly (due to some shock), the screen remains inactive and some beeps are heard from the computer speaker (if it is connented, of course). These beeps depend from the motherboard and BIOS version, and have special meanings (number of beeps, long or short sounds etc).

So, please disconnect everything and try again. Check if everything is well connected.
I remember a power supply that remained "dead" for 10 minutes or so if something unusual happened to the power (i.e. low or high voltage ... ).
