Topic: Using the Terminal Program

I have Fed13 with corrupted files.  Using the Gparted CD, I wish to run e2fsck but when I try to run e2fsck in the terminal screen it asks for a password. I do not understand this because when the CD boots up it does not call for a password entry.  Also if one tries to run e2fsck from within Fedora, it is not possible to unmount the device (which I understand is necessary).
This is a pity    e.g. running sfc.exe on XP  will  check itself.
                    ANY  HELP  ?                         Allouette

Re: Using the Terminal Program

Please, look at the Live media page.
Search for the paragraph "Accounts in GParted live".
I hope this solves the issue.

There are some operations in Linux that require special privileges. You probably log into Fedora as superuser.
