Topic: Development Plans for the Next Release of GParted (0.10.0)

With the next release of GParted (0.10.0) we plan to focus on bug fixes and possibly some new features.

GParted 0.10.0 is planned for release on November 1, 2011.

Candidates under consideration for GParted 0.10.0 include:

yes - Bug 438573 - Cancel out overlapping actions
Jérôme DUMESNIL has created a patch.

yes - Bug 662174 - gparted does not compile on older gcc

yes - Bug 661715 - use btrfs-tools ability to resize btrfs partitions

yes - Bug 639760 - exfat / fat64 support
Only detection of exfat being considered at this time due to exfat licensing concerns.

no - Bug 634154 - Check return codes everywhere
Markus Elfring has created a patch.  Review and testing is required.


With the 1.0.0 release of GParted we plan to work on preparing GParted to work with GNOME 3.0.

Candidates under consideration for GParted 1.0.0 include:

no - Bug 652044 - uses deprecated APIs
Colin Watson has created an initial patch.  More development work and testing is required.

The patch created by Jérôme DUMESNIL to address Bug 438573 - Cancel out overlapping actions has been committed to the gnome repository for inclusion in the next release of GParted.

A patch to address Bug 662174 - gparted does not compile on older gcc has been committed to the gnome repository for inclusion in the next release of GParted.

An enhancement has been committed to the git gnome repository to address Bug 661715 - use btrfs-tools ability to resize btrfs partitions.

An enhancement to detect exfat file systems has been committed to the git gnome repository to address Bug 639760 - exfat / fat64 support.
