Topic: GParted-livecd MOVIE

Hi all,
To give general idea of GParted livecd working, i made a little movie from within VMware. Unfortunatly the output file is AVI, so you may get some problems playing it in linux. Converting to MPEG file gave something really bad, so i kept the file like it is. You may download it and see how it goes.
If you know some other way to run this video from within linux, or to convert it, please tell me ! ;-)

Just after it begins to boot there is a black screen during about 14 seconds. I guess this come from VMware, but dunno why.

Well, the file may be found here : http://gparted.free.fr/video/

Has been converted to OGG by justme, who made a nice work !

Not only. Does not play at all in QuickView, crappily in VLC, and not even in Winedoors
Medical Payer big_smile

Converting to MPEG file

BAD idea anyway sad

black screen during about 14 seconds. I guess this come from VMware

CRAP sad sad sad CRAP sad sad sad

Not only this ... the movies seem heavily corrupt sad sad sad

If you know some other way

...

to convert it, please tell me !

OK, It was a hard war but I finally won it smile and:

- Merged the movies
- Removed wreck frames
- Slowed down the booting and extended cake logo
- Compressed using 7-ZIP (1.5 MB !!!) and OGG Theora (7 MB) (anyone still wants to use MPG
or even AVI or WMV !?!?!?!?!? . )

OGG movie verified to play well on MPLAYER and VLC (buggy, works only on very high
end PC's by now sad . )

Well, the file may be found here : http://gparted.free.fr/video/

Please delete the AVI's and upload my OGG and 7-ZIP versions ...

BTW: When creating next movie, you maybe should:

- Use English language
- Restrict screen to 800x600 or 640x480 (your huge movie size also generates problems with playing)

I fixed up your's, did not create it from scratch wink

I don't have WMalWare ... and unfortunately neither BOCHS nor QEMU allow to create
movies so far sad

You can create a new raw one with W'ware (if you still have it) ... and I'll try to fix it up.  wink

And reduce the screen size and use English please ...

What about the bug I reported in other thread ? Is it fixed in 0.3.4.1 ? Will it be later ?
Or no chance for Linux to run on such hardware ? hmm

OK, considered the usage as obvious enough ... hmm

---------------------------------------------------------------

At http://gparted.free.fr/video/ available:

- OGG Theora video file (5.5 MB, 1024x768, preferred)
- 7-ZIP compressed collection of frames (1.5 MB)
- Original AVI file (problems with playing)
- MPEG file (very broken)

Re: GParted-livecd MOVIE

Great movie - unfortunately, it is the only avi and mpeg that won't actually play - I tried a few others around the web to check that it wasn't my hardware/software. Something wrong with the file or download site?

I wanted to see what happened after the screen went black when I tried gparted-livecd-0.3.4-2.iso

sad

and if you knew how long it took to do all the registrations when your forum could have been on the sourceforge site where we all go to test all the betas and report all the bugs, you would know that you are not encouraging existing devs to come and use your stuff.

Re: GParted-livecd MOVIE

Briton : to see it from within win$, you first need to install VMware-encoder : i have just uploaded it to the video directory.
Then avi file can be played.
