Topic: Boot gParted from BartPE multiboot CD?

23May2011

Greetings.
I have been using gParted (and/or Parted Magic) for about three years.
I now boot PM from a "Fuwi" multiboot USB stick on my P4 class XP laptops.
I also have an XP/PII that plays mp3/avi files 24 hours a day
while I work on my other laptops.
I would like to boot gParted 0.3.4-11 under a "Fuwi" multiboot BartPE CD»
http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php? … opic=24061.
I have an iso from years ago of gParted 0.3.4-11 rolled into UBCDOS 4.11 that I used to (& later this year will again) boot under a UBCD4W mboot CD.
I can follow instructions to make a multiboot CD/USB stick
but have no idea how to do it on my own.

Any helpful replies/insights appreciated.
Thank you.
Regards,
AEN

The 0.3.4-11 version of GParted Live is no longer supported.  Please consider using the latest release (currently GParted Live 0.8.0-5).

Re: Boot gParted from BartPE multiboot CD?

Well in either case I stil l am asking how to boot gParted from a "Fuwi" multiboot CD. I use the latest Parted Magic with the latest gParted on my P4 laptops but cannot always use the latest releases on my old PII ... 0.3.4-11 runs well on my PII ...

In either case I hope someone who knows about booting gParted will tell/show me how to boot gP from a "Fuwi" multiboot CD ...

Re: Boot gParted from BartPE multiboot CD?

Dear friend, the 0.3.4-11 (December 2007) was the latest release from the old series of GParted livecd, based on Gentoo.
Early 2008, there were no new livecd releases; we recommended sysresccd.
Since April 2008, a new livecd maintainer is involved in GParted, Steven Shiau. Since then, the GParted livecd is based on Debian.

I am the oldest in the actual GParted team, the only remaining from that "old" GParted era, up to 2007. However I was not involved in development tasks. I am not really aware about the "Fuwi" multiboot CD, so I couldn't help myself.
Older GParted source files and livecd iso/zip files are always available in the sourceforge GParted page, as well as changelog files.
Unfortunately, I don't find anything else on these years of the project.

Any information on the subject is welcome, of course.

Re: Boot gParted from BartPE multiboot CD?

Personally I am not familiar with "Fuwi" multiboot CD, however, I believe it uses grub as the boot loader from what I have googled. Therefore you can refer to this:
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livehd.php
to put GParted live in your multiboot CD.
