gparted-live has grub version 0.97.
But what do you do when you have Ubuntu installed? Because ubuntu uses grub2.
Do the grub commands in the faq work on an ubuntu partition that uses grub2?
I would think not.
Please add advice on the faq for ubuntu people.
Currently the title says "GRUB fails to boot. How can I fix this?"
With this title I intended that people would only reinstall GRUB if and only if GRUB failed to boot the computer.
Do you have a suggestion on how to improve the text of the FAQ message?
hm, maybe just a warning for Ubuntu users that the grub of gparted-live may not work with the files of grub2 of Ubuntu? If their grub fails after a resize/move maybe the rescue options of the Ubuntu install CD can fix grub?
By the way: gparted-live successfully aligned all my partitions (ntfs, ext4, swap)! I'm very relieved that I did not lose any data apparently, especially the data of my father. The longest resize/move took 4 hours (206 GB ntfs partition with 160 GB data).

I am glad to hear you did not lose any data. This is the way GParted is designed to work.
My advice in future when moving or resizing partitions (with any partitioning tool), is to make a backup of all data prior to performing these operations. Backups of important data are always a good idea.
