Topic: Partition failure on New Toshiba Notebook

After inserting gparted disk the HD configuration should have been a warning for my challenged PC expertise but I did create said partition for purpose of having dual OS.
Anyway Toshiba absolutely refused recognize what I had done. (Shrinking the 286.59) I did not know what to do to correct immediately so I went to recovery and 12 hours later I was back to normal.. The HD status or configuration is:Unallocated 1.00 MiB, sda1 NTFS System and Boot, sda2 286.59
sda3 recovery
I want to get away from win 7 plus want to load Ubuntu on HD or on my 149GB external. Thanks for anyone who will take the time and effort to help this challenged 80 year old

Re: Partition failure on New Toshiba Notebook

Toshiba laptops from mid 2007 onwards don’t have a recovery disc supplied with a purchase of a laptop. Instead, Toshiba has added a hidden partion on the hard drive which contains the same files on a recovery cd / dvd.
