Topic: "Boot Error" for USB flash drive (solved, kinda...)

Hello,
I have tried booting off a UFD for versions 0.7.0-4 and 0.7.1-1.  I followed the manual instructions on page http://gparted.sourceforge.net/liveusb.php and the BAT file reported success for creating the boot partition.  I booted on an AMD desktop where I get a black screen with only "Boot Error" on it and an AMD laptop where it doesn't give any errors and just goes on to the OS after a couple of underbar cursor blinks.  In both cases the BIOS recognized the UFD as a USB HDD.  I'm using a 4GB/FAT32 HP UFD.

What might I be doing wrong?

Thanks,
Justin

UPDATE:  I tried on a PNY 4GB UFD and it worked on the laptop but still not on the desktop.  I then updated the BIOS on the laptop and backed up the BIOS to the HP UFD then it worked on the laptop.  The PNY UFD isn't even recognized in the boot device list.  So, I guess there is something flukey with the desktop.  We'll consider this solved, but if anyone has any info about the desktop I'd be glad to hear it.

Re: "Boot Error" for USB flash drive (solved, kinda...)

Hi,
When you boot from a USB device, what you're actually doing is running your computer with the operating system that's installed on the USB device. When you start your computer normally, you're running with the operating system installed on your hard drive - Windows, Linux, etc.
